POEME ROMÂNESTI ÎN LIMBI STRĂINE

Marta BĂRBULESCU

Don’t run anymore!

it was snowing with misfortune and pain,
the sky had fallen down under my eyelashes,
your cry was balm
for my incertitude:
„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my love and my life!…”

Who could stop the invasion
of the furious waves?
My soul was frightening
at the miracle of wandering on a sea
of mercy and love…

Only your balm soul
for the fear which was putting me into shade:
„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my despair and my love!”

It was snowing with blood of sacrificed lamb –
An Emperor over mercy and love,
thrown out of the hell which was rolling me
to another being,
another nature…

Only your cry I was hearing,
reverberated:
„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my hate and my love!…”

An area of hope scattered to the winds
by a simple happening;
and all of them crumbled to small pieces
under my frightened sight.

Only your cry covering
them all:
„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my dispair and my love!…”

It was snowing with blood of sacrificed,
crucified Lamb…
And over all the suffered things
your cry covering them all:
„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my heart and my despair!…”

It was snowing with blood of sacrificied Lamb –
An Emperor over mercy and love –
you took me out of the hell which was rolling me
Mephistophelian
under another being…

And your cry was an oath
for all the things in the sky
and on the earth:
„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my heart and my pain!…”

It was snowing with misfortune and pain,
the sky was resting in the shade of my eyelashes.
Your cry – balm on the wings
of the angels was carrying me:

„Don’t run anymore! Don’t run anymore,
through my hope and my love!…”

Don’t run anymore!…
