"GMUCH LIKE HAIKU

The shadow of leaves green
 the second presses
Leaving it run away
>From under the plane-tree

If time had leaves
What an autumn!

>From the mood of words I grew cold
As if snow fell down on their meanings
It's so easy to be alone, O, Lord,
And so hard to burn at sight of nature

The eagles are flying trees,
The roots are their claws
What an autumn, O, Lord,
Aloft is coming into being

people hanged from a tree in blossom I've never seen
Ah, you, a whore of grass
Trees with no leaves
Eagles with no flight.

Even, the white of the eye
On the black iris of the earth
Looking with the trees
out of autumn
Ah, you, even…

The smell of the linden-tree

The ankles of a deity running
among the boughs of a linden-tree.

Like the bang of two words
Alien to each other
Springs out of me
 Your images sparkling

From the infinite one draws off blood again
The bright cells-the stars,
Dazzle me with a gentle pain

The snow flakes, what a frozen light
And what a cold of words the sight of a new winter….

Do catch the north wind and tie it in a knot round my
neck
As flesh is tied in a knot round the skeleton,
O, you, word, ever thought of
To be you alone my own spectrum!

On my speaking tongue there stood still
My word immortal for ever
Never have I told you, I think,
That I  need not wings to fly
Never have I told you that, I think.

O, homeland,
You,
arrow
I shoot with
at the heart
of he infinite

                               NEW FIELD

It's still as it was in the beginning. Among the
clouds
The stars I count, no matter how many they are
The heartbeat breaks against the ground
And comes again turned into sound

That's why here the sun vibrating rises:
Its north wind my hair flutters and stirs the dances
And in a tide-like motion in turn the fields
As if some chains its boundaries cast

Yes, and they're cast as if some smoke
As if  the bars of a lock-up
And then into storks they turn
And take a way with no return.

Seascape

The palm with shells, o, do make it sound
that the stones and salt may fall asleep,
As on the very even when turned into pillars
We twisted under the dome of the sea.

Above us the dolphins with their tails beat
The prow of the moon green
Split the wood of sadness
And you thought you could miss it, hold it

And the crabs of the hands wide apart
Blankets of seaweeds unfolded,
Old, wavy and greenish
Mates to the sleep of the temples.

O, do make your palms sound in my ear
Make the skies of waters sheen above,
by the fish tails quick as lightning crossed
Along the skyline of a vestal sun.

Song (Parting from an age)
All things should have been spherical,
but they weren’t, they were not so.
All things should have been linear,
but they weren’t, they were not so.
And you should have been a circle slender,
but you weren’t, you were not so.
And I should have been a rhombus slender,
But I wasn’t, I was not so.

You grass, you rocks, you trees, you birds,
you’re something altogether different.
I look at, I hear, I smell me
And it’s all like in a dream.

All things should have been spherical,
but they weren’t, they were not so.
All things should have been linear,
but they weren’t, they were not so.

Autumnal emotion
It is autumn again, so cover my heart, please do,
with the shade of a tree or rather the shadow cast by you.

I fear that I won’t see you again, quite oft,
that I’ll be growing pointed wings to the clouds aloft,
that in a stranger’s eye you’ll furtively alight
and that like a wormwood leaf it will shut tight.

And then I go near the rock and mute,
take the words and drown them in the brine,
whistle for the moon to rise and to transmute
into a love sublime.

Marine morning
A reddish streak had loomed on the horizon
and on purpose the startled poplars, amazed,
with their melodious shadows risin’
while I was still sleeping, my shoulders grazed.

I was rising, as if from the sea I outed,
by shaking the hair from my forehead, fantasies,
the eyebrows with salty crystals coated,
the abysses.

I will be an unusually lengthy morning,
an unsual sun climbing the sky on hold
deep down, the light the waters will be goring:
from our eyes it will come back a thousandfold!

Ia was rising, shaking gently wave cadences,
the waters were retreating silent, jealously minding.
The poplars were grazing my shoulders, my temples,
with their melodious shadows rising.

Sentimental story
Thereafter we dated more and more oft.
I was standing at one end of the hour
you – at the other,
like two handles of an amphora.
Only the words were flying between us both,
back and forth.
Their whirl could just about be descried,
and of a sudden,
I fell on one knee,
and the elbow I stuck into the ground,
only in order to see the grass trodden
by a fallen word’s very sound
like under the paw of a lion’s bound.
The words were circling, circling between us both,
back and forth,
and the more I loved you, the more plain
they were repeating in a whirl almost seen
the structure of the matter, over again.

Qu’il me soit diadème

d’où s’absenteraient toi et moi ;

Tu vas voir, toi, me dit mon Démon à moi,
tu vas voir
