POEME ROMÂNESTI ÎN LIMBI STRĂINE

Ienǎchitǎ VĂCĂRESCU

For as Long as I May Live

For as long as I may live
I would worthily conceive
Lofty love sighs to praise you,
yet dare I make dreams come true ?
Most accomplished should I be
to exquisitely portray thee,
Your fair face which spreads a ray
to the sun, lighting his way.
Till the thread of life is cut,

Will I unbosom my heart,
Will I dare to briskly confess
my torment and loneliness ?
Deep sighs lay burthens on my chest,
curtailing my lifelong quest,
So I shall seek peace and trill
till the Styx speaks up his will.
